BECU Rates —

BECU (Boeing Employees’ Credit Union) is one of the largest credit unions in the country, based in Washington State. Unlike the nationwide credit unions we track, its membership is regional — generally you must live, work, worship, or attend school in Washington, or in select counties of Oregon, Idaho, and South Carolina. We follow its full deposit lineup for YourBestSavings: Member Advantage savings and checking, a tiered money market, and a short CD ladder — every account ranked by the ByTheMath score and re-checked daily. We rank by the math; no institution pays to appear or move up.

What stands out at BECU
BECU’s rates are built around its Member Advantage program: qualifying members earn boosted APYs on savings, checking, money market, and CDs versus the base tiers. The tiered money market rewards larger balances (its top tier applies at $100,000), and CDs run in banded terms such as 12-17 and 36-47 months. Rates here are more modest than the online-only leaders we track — the trade-off for BECU is local branches and in-person service — and, importantly, membership is regional, so most savers outside the Pacific Northwest will not be eligible to open these accounts.
How we rank these accounts
Every account is scored by the ByTheMath method — APY weighted most heavily, then accessibility and flexibility — and grouped by type below, best first. Effective APY reflects the rate you would actually earn after any balance caps or conditions, which is why a capped or conditional rate does not automatically outrank a straightforward one. We may earn a commission when you open an account through our links, at no cost to you, and no commission ever changes the order; see our affiliate disclosure and methodology.
Membership, access & insurance
BECU is a not-for-profit credit union, so deposits are insured by the NCUA up to $250,000 per member, per ownership category. Unlike the nationwide credit unions we cover, BECU membership is regional: you generally must live, work, worship, or study in Washington, or in select counties of Oregon, Idaho, or South Carolina, and its partner-association paths are Washington-centric with no open nationwide route. If you are eligible, Member Advantage status unlocks the higher rates shown above. Use the insurance calculator to check coverage across multiple accounts.
Membership is regional. You generally qualify if you live, work, worship, or attend school in Washington, or in select counties of Oregon, Idaho, or South Carolina. Unlike some credit unions, there is no open nationwide path to join.
Yes. BECU is a federally insured credit union; deposits are protected by the NCUA up to $250,000 per member, per ownership category — the same protection level as FDIC coverage at a bank.
Member Advantage is BECU’s rewards tier: by meeting activity requirements (such as direct deposit and enrollment in eStatements), members earn higher APYs on savings, checking, money market, and CDs than the base rates. The boosted rates are the ones shown above where noted.
Daily. Each account shows the date its APY was last verified against BECU’s own rate pages.
BECU’s rates trail the online-only leaders. If you are not tied to the Pacific Northwest, compare nationwide options on our high-yield savings, CD rate, and money market rankings.
